My secret life as a poet, writer, photographer…

Path Through Bleakness

Clear path meanders
through bleakness to storms afield,
whose gray consumes all
but a bantam blue patch, veiled
beyond sight in the corner.

Through Locked Gates

Passing through locked gates,
casting shadows as it lights,
Evening shimmers.

Once, I thought the desert barren,
a lifeless, stagnant place
of no particular beauty or worth,
but as the years roll by,
and I, too, approach a desert
solely mine,
I find, to my delight, an oasis
of bittersweet contradictions:
life in constant motion,
whose sandy floor bears footprints
just as easily erased
as they were stamped on my soul
by eager visitors.

Deserted Desert Road

Do you think
Shangri-la lies
beyond this empty stop?
March onwards and look!
Through deserts and jungles
during heat waves and rainstorms
despite the uncertainty,
for just suppose
it’s really there
and here you stayed, cowardly?
What’s ever certain, anyway,
besides night and day?

Where Will You Be Tomorrow?

        Where will you be tomorrow?
        When the clap clap clap
of the train on the track
        dwindles
        into monotony
        and the exciting bend
        beyond the horizon
        comes and goes
        will you sit still
        in the same seat
        or move to the next
        car and lean out
        the open window,
        smiling
as the bugs hit your teeth?

Foggy Road

The brume swept in,
swirling all around,
obscuring everything
but the ground.

I sat for a while
getting my bearings
then geared to first,
and drove to new beginnings.

The path so true
leads ostensibly
to fair skies
and a pretty view;
therefore, woe to the voyager
who disregards Fate
threading through the sand
upon which he treads.

Continuing the Journey

I got in the car today,
intent on running away
but was dismayed to find
on looking behind
a backseat rider.
I stalled the car
in my haste to oust her,
but learned soon after
continuing the journey
meant embracing me entirely.
