Untitled Haiku

Desert in Winter II

Crisp skies without clouds.
Nose smarts inhaling cold winds.
Desert winter hike.

Clarity

Clouds gather swiftly –
pouring rain, biting winds –
still, clear skies follow.

Butterfly

Monarch on Leaf

In the garden’s shade
on a commonplace leaf, a
wondrous butterfly,
whose delicate wings yet sends
it fluttering through the air!

*Good luck to everyone participating in the A-Z April Challenge! See you next year. 🙂

Half-Light

Shadow of Leaves on Leaf

Twilight falls slowly:
shadows lengthening on leaves,
green fading to night.

*Sorry, I just realized I published the unedited version of my haiku in the first instance of posting. (Yikes!) This is the final version.

Kitchen Window

Shadows retreat to
cooled corners as light shines through –

Sorrow – a Haiku

Bare Orchid Stalk

Sorrow’s passing waits
only for Time whose schedule
no one understands.

Untitled Haiku

Peeling Paint

leaving peeling walls.

Sunset in Santa Fe

Day’s rays dissipate –
cotton candy wisps fleeing.
Sweetly ominous.

Urban Sonata

Birds’ songs rise in concert
with the sun
while garbage trucks join
the allegro in bass
dissonance
and we wake
at the crescendo,
bleary-eyed.
