Sunset in Santa Fe

Day’s rays dissipate –
cotton candy wisps fleeing.
Sweetly ominous.

Sunset and Dolphins

Sun rose gloriously,
coloring the world vivid,
but, setting, deprived
sky and sea a brilliance – light
singly tied to future’s rise.

Bougainvillea Boughs

In winter sunset
bougainvillea boughs glow
naked in the light.

That Long Ago Twilight

A cool fall evening in southern California is unlike any other, especially when spent watching the setting sun while strolling along a tranquil stretch of beach. Perhaps, dear reader, I might have been forgiven for thinking that life, at that moment, was quite perfect. Existential worries ebbed with the tide, and doubts were drowned by the sound of gently lapping waves. Yes, on that long ago twilight, I realized that in the macrocosm of life, I was a mere speck, my troubles equally as tiny. Harmony reigned. And sky and turf were in complete accord. See for yourself. 🙂

The sun set in the west,
painting the sky
in pastels of purple and pink
with the last of its light.
And as the the day
receded before the night,
I lingered at the edge,
caught
in the twilight
whose rosy hues
softened the vagaries of reality
and hinted at the fae of dreams.
